Main Horror Competition Rules
Submission Process: To enter this skilled based screenplay competition, complete the registration, attach your feature/tv pilot/short screenplay, pay the submission fee, agree to the official rules, and submit your application.
Categories & Page Counts:
Feature Film: 85 to 110 pages.
Short Script: 3 to 30 pages.
TV Pilot: 25 to 60 pages.
Formats: All scripts must be submitted in industry standard format. Accepted file types include PDF (preferred), Final Draft (.fdx), or Microsoft Word.
Language: All scripts must be submitted in English.
Originality: Scripts must be the original work of the author(s) and may not be based on a person’s life or a book without a written agreement of that person or the book’s author.
Scoring System: Each script will be scored on a scale from 1 to 10 in the following categories: Story, Originality, Structure, Pacing, Characterization, Dialogue, and Commercial Potential.
Rounds of Competition:
Quarter-Finalists: The top 20% of submissions.
Semi-Finalists: The top 10% of submissions
Finalists: The top 3% of submissions.
Selection: The winners are chosen based on the highest total scores from the judging panel. All decisions by the judges and the competition are final and binding.
Ownership: You retain all rights, title and interest in your script. Sponsor and competition only have the right to read and evaluate the script for the purpose of the competition.
Representations: By entering, the participant represents and warrants that the script is original and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party.
Publicity Release: Participation constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, likeness, and biographical information for promotional purposes without further compensation.
Binding Arbitration: Any dispute regarding this competition must be resolved in binding arbitration on an individual basis in Los Angeles, California.
No Refunds: Once a script has been submitted and the entry fee paid, there are no refunds under any circumstances.
Age Eligibility: The competition is open to writers 18 years of age or older. If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign a consent form.
Disqualification: Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be attempting to tamper with or undermine the entry process or to act in an unsportsmanlike manner.
